BRAKES FOR CLASSICS
GPA ENGINEERING specialize in the
reconditioning of brakes for classic cars. Old
rusted and pitted brake cylinders can be
reconditioned by fitting stainless steel liners.
This includes Brake and Clutch master
cylinders, Servos, Slave Cylinders, Wheel
Cylinders and Dunlop Calipers.
In addition to brakes, gearbox input shaft castings for the 'A' series engine are
reconditioned by fitting an oil seal. New castings fitted with an oil seal are
manufactured by ourselves for the sidevalve Morris Minor MM and Morris Eight.
Servo cylinders are relined to original
specification with stainless steel, assembled
with new seals, pressure tested to 2000 psi
and vaccum tested before despatch.
Wheel Cylinders of most types can be reconditioned
with stainless steel inserts. This includes both alloy
and cast iron cylinders, twin piston through bore,
single piston blind bore and those fitted with
handbrake levers.
Dunlop calipers are resleeved in stainless steel,
fitted with new OEM seals and pressure tested 2000
psi. As fitted to many Jaguar, Aston Martin, Alvis,
Alfa Romeo, Jensen, Ferrari, Rover and Lancia cars
of the 1950s and 60s.
Stainless steel caliper pistons are available for
most cars fitted with Lockheed or Girling brakes.
They can also be made to order for many others.
Gearbox input shaft castings fitted
with oil seals for
gearboxes mated to Austin Morris 'A' series and 918
cc sidevalve engines. These include MG Midget/AH
Sprite, Austin A30/35/40 and Morris Minors.
Lockheed calipers fitted to Alvis and Austin Westminster cars can be converted from Mk1
to Mk2 type by machining a seal groove in the body of the caliper and fitting Mk2 type
pistons. Thus overcoming the problem of leaks caused by corrosion of the caliper body.
